2015

Tournament Summary

Some pics of the day:

2015 was the Eleventh Annual Softball Tournament, we are continuing to honor Justin and our charitable efforts with support from the players, volunteers, fans and sponsors. We hope to have a deeper impact in the Lehigh Valley community, its charities and programs as a result of the tournament’s success.

2015 proved to be a challenge, we had everything ready to go and then the weather proved to be a culprit, undoing the plans, the day and the long awaited games! We scrambled and rescheduled with some difficulty in August.  The most amazing out come was that we had 20 teams return, and were so grateful for everyone pitching in, finding players, ensuring we had teams on the field and playing. It was a good day, and we raised $40,000 — a record for us. All will be donated to local charities and to fund two scholarship awards.  We could not do this with out the overwhelming support and energy from the community, thank you!

We were very excited to announce St. Luke’s University Health Network Sports Medicine is our Presenting Sponsor in 2015 and with them we had planned many exciting and free activities. St Luke’s is sponsored the Combine competition. All 20 teams will be competing for prizes — nominating 5 players per team. The two competitive activities will be a 20yd dash and medicine ball throw. Prizes were awarded for the best Men and Women in both activities and best overall Men, Women and Team. Chandler Bats made a custom bat and will be part of the prizes.

A word about St. Luke’s…..St. Luke’s Sports Medicine, a service of St. Luke’s University Health Network, is the largest provider of Sports Medicine services in the Greater Lehigh Valley region. St. Luke’s provides athletic trainer and team doctor services as well as orthopaedic surgery, physical therapy, primary care sports medicine, concussion testing and care, sports performance training, fitness centers and nutrition counseling. St. Luke’s is proud to be the Presenting Sponsor for this year’s Eleventh Annual Justin Sheftel Softball Tournament.

Chandler Bats will keep the bats ‘a talkin’, they provided the bats for the tournament, look for our logo on the bats, and for prizes in the Combine. We are very fortunate to have them involved and appreciate their generosity.

Vinart sponsored Hawk Radio and ESPN news broadcasting live from the Tournament. Look for them at the St. Luke’s HealthStar mobile health van. Very excited they were part of the day. They will be interviewing people throughout the day so stop by and give them a high five!

Vinart also had two new models of their 2016 cars for people to come and take a look, take a seat, touch and feel.  A free raffle was held for a coupons to dinner and shop.

It was a beautiful day, we did miss having Charlie Manuel, maybe another year. A big shout out to all who pitched in, volunteered, worked with me to organize a team with new players.  Thank you!
